Douro Pombal Vesúvio Red
Quinta do Vesúvio, actually tied to the Symington “familia”, is
one of the legendary farms of the Douro Superior. The Symington
family, during the sixties, started the forward-looking journey
towards the production of high-quality wines. In 2004 for the first
time a portuguese wine was chosen in a rank (“100 Best Wines”, by
Wine Spectator). Named after the Pombal, or dovecote at Vesúvio,
thanks to its unique character this is a soft, ready-to-drink wine.
It has attractive acidity and black currant flavors, smooth, opulent
richness with the concentration of low yields. There is also a scent
of bitter chocolate and spicy fruit, with an acidity that gains
strength from the layers of tannins, that offers support while not
suggesting any long-term aging. Tuneful, complex and delicious, this
wine is thinly achieved that you can already drink. Goes well with
grilled red meats and strong creamy types of cheese.
