Quinta da Leda, produced by the Casa Ferreirinha, arises in the golden cradle of Barca Velha with the fusion of the “castas tradicionais” of Douro, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca e Tinta Roriz. Located to the east of the Douro, this brand is one of jewels in Ferreira's legacy. Quinta da Leda reinvented itself with wines of great complexity of aspects:, built in 2001, is exemplary in that it follows an approach that allows the winemaker direct contact with the wine. The grapes are received on the uppermost level and gravity is used to move the grapes, ensuring a far more natural flow, with noted gains in wine quality.
This noble wine is deep, dark crimson, with dark fruits aroma like cherry, plum and an herbal note. Plenty of oak spice on the palate, and a balsamic taste, mixed with a scent of black tea and tobacco. Smooth but dense tannins well filled out by the fruit. Juicy and moreish and good length. A sense of dryness is caused by the sociable tannins presence, an austerity that matches great with elaborate dishes.

It shows sweet oak on the nose and a denser, tighter palate with crushed dark berry and cherry fruit supported by a firm backbone of sinewy tannins.
